I was so excited to discover another season of Project Run & Play! I’m just over 1 year into the blogging world so a lot of this is new to me. I was only able to participate in one week of the previous season when I made a plaid coat for my niece. Yay for season 8!
So what do you think of when you hear winter wonderland? If I had a girl I would have made a pure white, floufy, satin dress with a knitted cable top. However, I have an energetic toddler who LOVES the outdoors. Revision: when I think of boys and a winter wonderland I think of snow-fights, pine trees, and flannel plaid.
When I began this outfit we had 6 inches of snow on the ground and I was so excited for the photo-shoot…unfortunately by the time I finished the outfit, today, the snow had melted and it was a balmy 45 degrees.
I used several patterns that I have collected over the past couple months and all three were modified a bit:
- Pants are the Number 9 trousers from Shwin Design. I had previously used them in my flipped creation last month.
- Shirt is the Johnny B Good Hoodie from the same designer.
- Hat is the Arctic Trapper Hat by SewKateSew
Surprisingly he kept the hat on for quite a while! You can barely see it but there is a vintage button at the top of the hat. Where did we get all the wood from? It’s a long story…but he LOVES playing on the huge wood pile. I’m sure it’s going to be one of his childhood memories! The gigantic and never-ending woodpile!
And then the hat came off!
I’m glad that I modified the pants by using the contrasting fabric for the welt pocket as well as the lining for the side pockets because most of the pictures consisted of his backside! I also added an elastic to the waistband to make the pants adjustable as I made them a size 3T. When hemming the pants I folded the fabric up so that I could cuff them while he grew and then lower them hem as needed.
See…his backside again! 🙂 Thanks for coming over and reading my post. If you like what you see I would love to have you follow my blog!
Next week I will be posting my movie inspired look! Eeek I’m so excited for that one!
